Day 9 @ MSE, 13 June 2013
Today is sadly our second last day at MSE!
We saw quite a lot of new things today.
Firstly, we saw how to oxidise the impurities on the nanomaterial away!
Then, we saw a student assembling the lithium ion battery!
Finally, we saw two new cool machines!! These machines are already used in the industries!

Either oxygen or argon may be used to remove the impurities |
This experiment must be carried out inn environment absent of water and air! |

Day 8 @ MSE, 12 June 2013
Today, we saw a lot of pictures at the FACTS department!
Even though the SEM can only capture black and white images, the students at MSE have used their creative brain juices to colour the images, resulting in funny and cool pictures!
They also had some sort of competition to compare who made the most amazing pictures!

Day 7 @ MSE, 11 June 2013
Today is another cool day at MSE!
The coolest thing we probably saw today is how the researchers at MSE fill up a container with liquid nitrogen!
As many know, nitrogen can only be stored as liquid at -78 degree Celsius, so it was amazing to us how the researchers transfer nitrogen!
Protective layers have to be worn to protect the user from getting frostbite! And of course, we had Yihong to wear it!

Day 6 @ MSE, 10 June 2013
It's the start of the week! And we are back at NTU MSE again!
Today, we were brought around to follow a professor to see how to prepare a sample for the SEM!
Apparently, there shouldn't be any charging effects in the sample when put under the SEM, otherwise it will result in a blur image!
We also saw the gold coater at work!
After which we entered the SEM room and learned how put place the sample into the SEM without spoiling the machine!

Day 5 @ MSE, 7th June 2013
Today is Friday!
After we met up with Wanru,we were brought around the characterisation department once again. This time, we also saw someone using the SEM and spotted a number of different gas containers containing different gas!
